We at the New England Center for the Deaf, Inc., without hesitation, support absolute equity and respect in the treatment of all people, in all environments and in all situations, period!  We can all beat this toxic climate by ridding ourselves of the fear of differences and appreciating the enrichment that others' differences can give to our own lives.

Take a moment and smile or just say "HI" to someone you don't know today.

The National Association for the Deaf (NAD) won a lawsuit requiring all CoViD briefings coming from the White House to be presented in ASL, the Deaf language, indicating that closed caption does not do justice to meeting the needs of the Deaf culture. See the findings here.

For more information on CoViD-19 and how to protect yourselves and your family visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention information web site here.

For a series of ASL videos on CoViD-19 that will answer many questions about CoViD-19 and pregnancy, parenting, health and safety please visit here

For tips on how to communicate effectively for medical reasons during this time of CoViD-19, or at any time, here are some suggestions from the National Association of the Deaf we hope you will find useful.  We hope the medical community has the chance to read this as well.

The CT Department of Public Health has provided some links that might be helpful in regards to accommodations for testing for the Deaf an Hard of Hearing individuals.  They can be found here.  There is also a link for other useful information for people who are Deaf regarding CoViD.  You can find that here.
