Advocacy and Support                                                              COMING SOON

We at NECD, Inc. know how difficult it is for Deaf individuals to receive the best quality and respectful services.  We understand, from personal experience, how frustrating it is for the families and for Deaf individuals to effectively navigate the educational and social service systems and to know how to advocate for what is needed.  We Also understand how difficult it is raising a Deaf child and we can provide support for you through counseling and parent support groups held at our agency for parents who want to take advantage of some extra support.

At NECD, Inc. we can also provide assistance and suggestions on how you can be a self-advocate.  We will also accompany you to IEPs/PPTs, social service appointments, etc. at your request to support and advocate for your family.

For those clients  who are in recovery or wish to be in recovery from substance use, we have AA/NA twelve step groups exclusively for the Deaf and hard of hearing population facilitated  in ASL.

As advocates, everything that we do and every interaction that we have with the community, politicians, providers, the Police or other people will involve assuring that the needs of the Deaf population in Connecticut are heard.
