ABOUT US

 

New England Center for the Deaf, Inc. is a non-profit federally recognized 501 C 3 social service agency designed to meet the specific needs of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and their families. Unlike other local providers, NECD, Inc. will provide all of our services in American Sign Language and in an environment that is understanding of, and part of the Deaf community. 

 

We understand how important it is that the Deaf community in Connecticut has a full range of social services available to them and their families in a culturally competent environment and in a language with which they are comfortable and familiar.

 

We also acknowledge and encourage the importance of the strong sense of community of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and their families. It is this bond that encouraged the development of NECD, Inc. and which will provide an opportunity for gathering, support and friendship through our programming and our agency events.

 

All Deaf members of the community and their families as well as the non-deaf members of the community are always welcome at NECD, Inc. and at any of our events. Once established, please feel free to stop in at our Social Club to say "HI", relax, read and meet some new friends in a friendly, welcoming and safe environment.

 

NECD, Inc. is a client centered, strength based and trauma informed agency designed to meet the needs of our clients.  As our client, you will receive the highest quality services in a friendly, respectful, supportive and person-focused environment.  We expect that your involvement with us will be driven not by our goals for you but by what you want to accomplish.
